A Color Changer

When you think weddings you often think certain colors go with certain season right?! Well... not so much! I love it when brides just go with what they love! If you love the colors that match your season then go for it but don't be afraid to break the norm and go with what you love! Just because you're having a Christmas wedding doesn't mean you just have to use greens, reds, white, and evergreens, and this wedding proves it! Two days before Christmas we did this lovely wedding full of peaches, greens, and creams! There was no red or green to be found, and guess what, It worked out perfectly! Oddly enough ,since this is Texas, the weather almost reflected the flowers at a wonderful 60 degrees. This weather was perfect for an outside winter wedding and was tremendously refreshing while installing their chapel piece. A chapel piece which quickly became one of my favorites! This grapevine swag had such a natural feel that just flowed with the venue, and the peach and cream roses made the installment pop!

Pretty in Peach

As October rolls on so do the weddings! An this wonderful one wanted an elegant touch of peach in the best way possible, with David Austin Juliet Garden Roses! To roll with the bride's delectable color pallet silver brunia berries, cream ranunculus, cream lisianthus, dusty miller, and rosemary were added to her bouquet. As for hers bridesmaids peach spray roses, peach hypericum, brunia berries, dusty miller, and rosemary we mixed together to match this pleasing color pallet with that wildflower feel.

Classy Callas

October is here and so are the weddings! This beautiful day consisted of Calla lily bouquets and roses with baby's breath for the walk down the aisle. Simple callas bring a wonderful air of elegance to any big day and this one was no exception!

Truly Blue

One question I am always getting asked is what is my favorite flower, and for me that is one loaded question because I believe each flower has a different beauty in and of itself. However I do have certain favorites at times and currently one of those is Eryngium or as some know it, Sea Holly!! This flower is definitely not loved by all but I think it helps adds that special touch of blue and a wonderful texture to any bouquet, centerpiece, or floral piece.

Check it out! Tell me that you don't just love this little guy. His bright blue spindly bracts and veins just pop against the vibrant orange roses and yellow solidago adding that special touch that you just crave!!

So you say you want that wildflower feel and I'll probably say you should add some Eryngium in there! Not only can this blue beauty add texture and depth to your bouquet but add that something blue too!

A Stock Filled Day!

Hello again friends!
Every wedding we work has a character of its own and this one is no exception! The lovely bride knew exactly what she wanted and that was stock! It fit her color scheme perfectly and added a simple elegance to her day! It never ceases to amaze me how using just one type of flower can give a big day that floral touch! So now we will share some pictures of that day and the abundance of stock involved.

The Bride's bouquet was composed of white stock with touches of dendrobium orchids, and the personal touch of having her grandmother's locket wrapped around the stems. (An idea that I just love!)

All of the bouts used stock blooms, white for the groom to match the bride, fuchsia for the groomsmen to match the bridesmaids, and a mix for colors for the family members.

A couple stocks of stems graced each table in cylindrical vases, keeping the theme of simple elegance.

A very Special Day

Okay friends today I would love to share with you one the most special weddings I have done... my own! I took on the challenge and decided to do my own wedding flowers and am so glad I did because they turned out exactly how I wanted them to, full of fun and beauty!! A bride's Bouquet

Hello friends!! It has been one busy springs so far! Each and every wedding I work has its own unique feel and one thing never seems to fail is how the flowers reflect the bride. This can especially be seen in the bride's own bouquet! Each time I craft one of these beauties the bride's personality comes out and really helps me to shape the rest of the flowers for the wedding. So if you don't know where to start just pick flowers and colors you like then let your florist help you pave the way for the rest of the flowers, just making sure it's something that says you!!

A beautiful mix of pinks and whites makes for a whimsical soft feel, and smells lovely on top of it.

Another year has past and we are now welcoming in 2014! We have so many glorious plans for this year, and to follow in this suit we got the chance to work a lovely rehearsal dinner. Besides just putting together the centerpieces for this dinner we got a chance to work in a new venue of sorts... PHOTOGRAPHY!! What to Put in Your Bouquet.

Hello again friends! So I often get asked the question "What should I put in my bqts!?" And here's my answer to you... your favorite flowers, colors, and something that you can afford. I will say that 75% of the time that perfect bqt that you find on Pinterest or Google will be out of your price range, but don't let that discourage you because it's a great starting point to get to something you want and is in your price range. It's all about talking it out with your florist, what is it that you love!? That's what we need to know to get your bqt perfect for your special day. And sometimes it just means spending more on your bqt and going a little less on the flowers for everyone else in your bridal party. Just like everything in life there's always a little give and take.
Now sometimes deciding what you like is the hardest part and that's why I am dedicating this blog to showing you the most common flowers put in wedding bqts and telling you a little bit about them.

Roses! By far the most widely used flower in bqts. Ranging from mini/spray roses, to your everyday rose, and now the ever popular wonderfully scented garden rose. All of which are available year round!

Gerbera Daisies! Offered in both mini and regular size and a huge section of colors. These beauties are available year round and always look beautiful with a mix of flowers or just by themselves.

Lisianthus! A great lil flower that can give you that rose look but in a softer way. These vary in color with whites, purples, pinks, and pale yellow. And can are usually available year round.

Lilies! These come in the great scented stargazers or oriental varieties or without scent in the asiatic variety, and tons of colors. All types are available year round, except the White Easter lily which is usually only sold cut in the month of Easter.

Mums/ Poms! Oh how there are so many different kinds to help fill bqts, daisy poms, buttons poms, &cushion poms. These are are great to mix with those big focal flowers to give some texture and depth.

Cremons & Spider Mums! yet another type of mum but these are great focal flowers and can fill space for a lot less then some of their friends. They come most notably in white, green, yellow, bronze, red, purple, and lavender and can be found year round.

Anemones! Great delicate looking flowers that are available Dec thur May and sometimes in between. They come in White, purple, pink, red, and sometimes even a blueish color.

Ranunculus A unique looking single bloom flower that is generally availble Dec. thru June and comes in white, purples, pinks, reds, oranges, and yellows. These beauties add a touch of elegance to any bqt!

Freesia! If you want scent in your bqt this is the flower to go with! They are available year round and come in a variety of colors including bright yellow, white, orange, and more.

Sunflower! A flower that screams fall and rustic and is available year round in mini, medium, and large. Just be careful because using large sunflowers can also mean having to hold a heavy thick bqt.

Dahilas! A great fall flower that can give you some great deep colors and a nice structured look. These are usually only available July thur Nov so if your hoping to use some make sure your wedding is in the fall.

Orchids!! So many different types are available year round but just be careful because they can get pricey but are all very hardy in bqts and give that wonderful touch of elegance.

Hydrangeas! So large and wonderful! Great mixed with everything or elegant by themselves. They are available year round and come in many different colors but can also be painted to reach a desired colors. Just be careful with these guys because they are very water sensitive so summer heat and lack of water isn't always their friend.

Calla Lilies! Theses come in large and mini. The large are found only in white but the minis come in a wide range of vibrant colors. All are available year round and are get for corsages and boutonnieres to match a lovely bqt.

Stock! A great flower that has a light scent and is available year round in peach, white, pink, lavender, pale yellow, and purple. It can be used for its length in bqts or just the tips to add pops of color.

Tulip! A great symbol of spring that is actually available Oct. thur May in a variety of colors. Always great mixed or alone in a bqt but just know they respond to temperature so if they get cold their blooms will close, and the warmer they get the more open they become.

Carnation! You either love or hate these but they come in a huge variety of colors and either standar size or mini. These can add that pop of bright vibrant color you are looking for or can create a perfect ball form any time of the year.

Baby's Breath! A hot trend right now to be used alone and classically used in almost everything! This guy comes with blooms ranging from mini to overtime to give you more or less of that little white bloom.

After looking through all of these wonderful flowers, I know you can get overwhelmed but pick a few and see if they come in your colors. It always helps to know not only what you like but also what you don't! And even though some of these flowers are not traditionally available year round there is always a chance you can find them but just ready to pay a little more. Use the wonder of technology and Google or Pinterest your flowers, from there your florist can help make something that can be uniquely yours even if it just is a certain ribbon, flower mix, or a small brooch you'd like to add to your bqt. Such a Wonderful Evening.

Hello!! So I am very excited to share with y'all the wonderful opportunity we got last week! A couple of weddings ago I got the chance to work with a great and talented photographer, Alexandra with IXI.photography, and she suggested that we get together and do a bqt shoot. Of course I loved this idea and after juggling between our busy schedules we finally got the shoot done. After working with Alexandra I have learned a few things that everyone should take to heart.
One finding a great photographer to work with no matter what kind of event or shoot you are doing can chance the experience. So find one with a great personality and that you can easily communicate with so you not only end up with amazing pictures but someone you'd love to go back to! Speaking of the experience I had working with IXI.photography, I would recommend her to anyone!! We not only got great photos out of the experience but it was a wonderful evening of learning through each other. Second thing I learned is that no matter how great you are at photographing your own work, working with a professional is going to make a huge difference in what you see. So much more goes into photo editing than you can see, and that includes time. Much like floral work, photography is all done behind the scenes and what you see is the product of hours of hard work. I can say that personally my photos are good but when I put them next to a great photographer's like IXI.photography they can definitely look sub-par. All I can do now is share with you the great pictures that IXI.photography took for us and you can see the beauty for yourselves!!
