As of late I got the wonderful chance to work on wedding in Kyle, TX at Texas Old Town. I have done a couple weddings here and have come to love the venue, which houses 4 different halls for the wedding of your dreams. The latest wedding we did was one for Autumn and CJ. Their wedding stayed true to their personalities using mostly baby's breath, mason jars, twine, and a little lace which when mixed with the wood of the hall was simple, rustic, and just down right beautiful.
Hello!! So life has been more than crazy lately and alas I have been horrible at blogging. So for the most part I am sorry and hope that I can get back on track to bring y'all some wonderful new info, pictures, and maybe even new products!!!

So it's been about a month since my last blog and its def do to a little to apathy and a lot to enjoying this wonderful summer so far!! We got the chance to enjoy the beach and work a on wonderful wedding but then the summer blues set in. As some of y'all may know summer brings a big lull for the floral business... Less weddings bc of the heat, no major holidays until the 4th, and since people are in and out of town on vacations less events are put together. So you know what this means right!!?!? Now is the best time to come chat with us or set up an appt to talk wedding flowers!!! Chat me up!! Ask questions!!! See if want you want is fesable for your budget, if your flowers are in season, and do your flowers cone in the color your looking for! We love chatting with y'all and I am for sure going to get back to blogging more. Til next time enjoy some pics from our latest wedding!!! Hello!! I know it's been couple weeks since I've posted but I just feel like life get a little too busy sometimes. It's crazy how you can get so caught up in the moment and forget to reflect and be thankful for what you have. I mean these last couple of weeks included a very special baby shower, tons of dance recitals, and of course Mother's Day. And Mother's Day is huge for the floral world, it's our second biggest holiday next to Valentine's Day. So just a note on this please, oh please try to avoid scheduling weddings or big events on these weekends because more often than not it's very hard to find a florist that will have time to fit your event in their schedule, unless you use a purely event florist (wink, wink). Now back to what's been going on in current Busy Lil Bee world, I got a great chance to help one of my good friends Amanda with her baby shower this past weekend. She gave me the great opportunity to create her maternity sash for her! I love getting chance to work with something new and this was def one, I mean I had actually never heard of a maternity sash before she told me about it. But after all was said and done, I love the idea! The sash really helps to show off your baby bump and makes for some great maternity photos! Plus they tend to be super cute, and who doesn't like something that's super cute!! Speaking of super cute things... Another great new thing that I got the chance to do for the past to weekends we make tons of nosegays for little girls' dance recitals. Now nosegays are nothing new but they haven't really been prevalent in the floral world for a while but now they seem to be picking up steam They are pretty much just very small bouquets that can be used in place of corsages or for smaller girls especially flower girls or in this case to recognize the great dancer in your life. I found these so fun to do because not only do I get the chance to use the brightest colors flowers ,b, and no matter what you know that what your making will bring a smile to a little girl's face!! Both of these new ventures for us open a new world of possibilities and I am definitely thankful for them and glad they really brighten people's day!! Hello Again Friends! Last week was one for the books! As always it was crazy busy but I had one great wedding to get going! All of the flowers came in great and looked wonderful together especially these green button poms and eryngium. It never fails how much flowers can bring a smile to my face and freshen up a room plus having hundreds of them really helps. And as much as I kind of hate to admit this, silks can help brighten up a room just as much... especially when they are great quality ones!! Probably one of the few times I am behind using silks in place of real flowers is when it comes to flowers for an archway or something similar. I guess this may sound odd but I just would hate for a bride to be standing under her archway and get dripped on by the beautiful arrangement hanging above her head. lol But really I have just found that for myself and generally everyone involved silks give a little more piece of mind. Now sometimes and more often than not silks will end up costing more than real or match them in price but hey it can be a great memoir from your wedding if you'd like. And of course it's great news for your florist because we can get it together well before time and have more time to spend working on the other flowers the day before your wedding! Just like last week I had a wonderful time Tuesday putting together this silk piece for a beautiful bride's wedding before I even got in the fresh flowers for her wedding! Great to say her flowers all came in looking wonderful the following day and then the fun part is creating each item with the little beauties! After that it's truly the hard part... loading up the car! I say it's the hardest because if they're not packed right disaster can strike. I swear I always have a panic attack while driving with flowers in my car, I mean it's probably the only time I am more than okay with driving well under the speed limit. ;) Needless to say all these made it to the wedding unscathed and ready to be put out! The venue was gorgeous and the centerpieces fit perfectly with it! The funniest part was when I was trying to fill the centerpieces and had the sink explode on me... I'm pretty sure I ended up watering myself more than any centerpiece! lol As always though I just laugh it off and was just so glad that all the flowers were perfect. The venue was Stone Hall at Texas Old Town in Kyle, TX. To the left is a picture as you walk in the hall. I love the green table clothes and really think the flowers jived with it all perfectly. I would love to thank Sarah and Alex for using us as their florist because we had a blast!!! And we like to thank their great photographer for the bridal portrait! You can learn more about him on his website http://www.geodun.com/blog/ . Hello Friends!! So this past week has been crazy... but I LOVE it!!! We had a very wonderful wedding and a portrait bqt for one our upcoming weddings! One thing I think often gets over looked by brides is the importance of a portrait bqt. It may seem kind of trivial at the time but it's your first chance to see what your florist has in mind for your actual wedding bqt. Your portrait bqt will be smaller and not exactly like your bridal bqt but it should have very similar qualities. You can see how your chosen flowers fit together and if the colors of the flowers and actually what you are looking for. A side note here would be that flower colors do vary but if you see a problem or want a different shade of the color, then simply let your florist know so on the actual bqt they can try to fit the flowers to your vision a little better. For many girls a portrait bqt will be the first time they see, work with, and handle a bqt, so it's always a very nice trial run on handling one. The pictures above are of first of the portrait bqt and then of the wonderful couple on their big day, and are thanks so much in part to IXI.photography. We send well wishes and blessings to the newlywed couple Carly and Bo!!! Thank you so much the wonderful opportunity to be your wedding florist!! <3 Hello again friends!
Hope y'all have all had a great Easter and past week! There's one thing that I always get asked from brides and think that every bride ponders... what type of flowers should they use in their bouquets!? And my answer to all of y'all is simply what makes you happy! I know that many brides, and people in general for that matter, don't know all the crazy varieties of flowers out there but whatever makes you smile now will make you smile on your wedding day. A funny thing that I always get asked is the meaning of flowers or if they are associated with certain feelings/event. Yes, of course, if you Google flower meanings or what is commonly used in weddings versus funerals some definite flowers will pop up, like red roses for love, carnations for funeral arrangements, so on and so forth. But luckily to say most if not all of these "ideas" of flowers have been thrown out the window in the past couple of years. As a bride you need to stick with what you love so on YOUR day you will not regret anything. The one biggest thing I can tell you is to do what you love and don't let parents or other loved ones overshadow what you love. Mostly any florist can tell when a bride is being overshadowed and if this happens to you just meet with them one-on-one to tell them what you'd really love. Bring pictures of what your thinking or swatches of your colors so we can help to steer you in the right direction, and if you don't like something just let us know because we are here to help make your visions become reality. But the side note here, especially with Pinterest around, is that flowers are not cheap, sorry to say but the prices you see at Heb, Walmart, Kroger, etc, are not what you will receive from any wedding florist because your paying for quality and color choice above all else. Now this is not to say that you can't do a low budget wedding, it's just that you have to be willing to change some flower choices, size, and amounts of bouquets, centerpieces, and corsages/bouts. What I will always say is spend the most money on your bouquet.. Yes you the Bride! Get what you'd like and change around all of the rest to fit your budget. And the key here is to be open with your florist, whether it is me or someone else, we only know what you tell us and please believe me when I say this, we can tell how you really feel when you receive them and sadly at that time it's too late for us to change anything about them. But ask us what we think, tell us your colors and we can recommend flowers, then Google them... think about it. Remember this is your day and we are here to help you. Please ask me any questions you have about certain flowers... when they are available... what colors they are available in... whether they will hold up okay in a bouquet. Now it's your turn to say write something! So have a wonderful week and throw the questions/comments this way if you'd like, I'd be more than happy to answer them for you!! :) Hello and welcome to our new website! I am so excited to finally get this up and running thanks to my wonderful fiancee.
Since this is my first blog post I would love to let y'all get to know me a little bit and what I am all about. My name is Jessica and am I an Aggie currently living in College Station, TX even though I'm from Austin and I always love going back every chance I get! I found my love and talent in flowers when I was attending A&M and everything just fell into place from there. I ended up getting two bachelor degrees from their Horticulture program, one in nursery mgmt and the other in floral design. I am so blessed to have found this passion in my life and I strive to share it with others, especially through weddings. I love wedding work because it gives me a chance to know my clients on a deep level, since most have had this day planned for quite a long time. No matter the budget or ideas it becomes a goal of mine to provide flowers that can meet the brides expectations because it means just as much to me as it does to them. I am a perfectionist and have found this just tends to help me in what I do especially since flowers are so free flowing and they usually need to be tamed to fit ideals. The funny thing is though as much as I am a perfectionist I love just going with the flow and rolling with the punches, much of which I have learned from working in this business because there is no for sure yes in flowers and you have to work with what is available. With this blog I am hoping to answer questions that I commonly get from brides, share ideas, flowers, colors... pretty much anything that pops into my mind. Please if y'all want to know anything just ask because I'll give you my best answer or find one for you!! And please note I'm new to blogging so I hope this isn't too awful :) but if you'd like to see more of what we do and some everyday pictures please check us out on Facebook or Pinterest!!!! ( both are under Busy Lil Bee Floral) Thanks!!!!! |
